Study No. 01
A study in colour, movement and the shifting language of the ocean.
Created from shells gathered at the water's edge, Nacre moves between recognition and abstraction. Soft corals, lilacs and ocean blues fold into one another, while fragments of familiar shell forms emerge and disappear within the movement.
The name Nacre refers to the iridescent inner layer of a shell — commonly known as mother-of-pearl — where light and colour shift across its surface. Here, that natural luminosity becomes something less certain: part shell, part water, part memory.
Created using intentional camera movement, Nacre continues my exploration of the space between seeing and knowing — allowing the natural world to remain present without revealing itself all at once.
